From TouchScreens to TouchLess ?

Last 2-3 years have been the success of Touch Technology for sure. Moving from Resistive to Capacitive Touch enabled the phasing out of the stylus. Now Capacitive Touch ensures that we can use our fingers for navigating through CE devices like Media Tablets , SmartPhones etc. Great technology for sure !!!!

But , I want to be cooler... I dont want to touch my devices. I want to control my TV or my Video Game Console from the comfort of my couch. But also , I dont like remote controls. I want the following : I wave my hand like a 'maharaja' and my TV switches to my favorite channel.... Wishfull thinking , possible in Science Fiction.....

Well NO ! An Israeli Startup , with almost a Geeky Name : XTR3D is actually developing Touchless TVs.

But thats not news. Every now and then start ups come up with innovative ideas. What are the big guys doing is that matters. In other words, where is the Smart Money getting invested ?

Well , again the answer is same -- Touch Less or Gesture Recognization !!!

Microsoft is planning to expand the scope of its hugely popular gesture-recognization game - Kinect.
TI has invested into XTR3D ; Total Recent Round Funding being USD 8 M for XTR3D.
Even Qualcommhas recently bought a Canadian firm called Gesture Tek!!!!

Hence , we need to watch out these products closely as they may be just the next wave after the Touch -Enabled Devices....

Think of the comfort it will give you !!! :) :) and they are planning to mass-market their devices.
